Meet Albert Jamae, a Triality writer from Australia

Where do you write?

Mostly at home on my country property as I like the quiet. But can also write on the train to work when deadline is approaching.

Which writers are you most inspired by?

I love dialogue so Aaron Sorkin’s rhythm is something I like.

What’s your proudest moment as a writer?

Winning best theatre script in an Australian competition and seeing it tour several countries and after turning it into a short film it won best comedy...for something that didn't take more than a week to write!

What are you working on at the moment?

Television drama and comedy web series both in early development.

What made you want to write in the first place?

Getting bored of my career as a performer and critical of the scripts I was getting thinking I wouldn't mine trying to write my own things.

What are your favourite films/tv series?

Currently love dark, edgy and slightly humorous. Television series like Just Kidding, The Good Place and Sick Note. Films like Knives Out and Baby Driver. But also love a good horror like A Quiet Place.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

Work on property. Chopping wood, landscaping and fishing and snorkeling.

What sort of characters interest you?

Usually ones that are the type we would ostracize because they’re inappropriate, socially awkward, or have no filter. I like to find empathy for the 'bad guys'.

What’s your favourite place in the world?

My hometown of Willunga. Within 10 minutes I have some of the best beaches in the southern hemisphere, wineries, forests and lots and lots of cafes with good coffee!

What would you be doing if you weren’t a writer?

Marine biologist. I love the water and sea life.
