Meet Oscar Moreno, A Triality Screenwriter from Mexico

Where do you write?

At home for the most part in my own bedroom. But I always carry a notebook with me to write down ideas or to move forward on projects so I can type them up later.

Which screenwriters are you most inspired by?

Steve Kloves, Paul Thomas Anderson, Hayao Miyazaki, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Edgar Wright, Wes Anderson, Leigh Brackett, Rian Johnson, Sofia Coppola, Charlie Kaufman, Andrew Stanton, Guillermo del Toro, The Nolan Brothers, Paul Schrader, Lawrence Kasdan.

What’s your proudest moment as a writer?

Having two of my scripts optioned and being told I should be writing for A-list actors.

What are you working on at the moment?

Getting one of the optioned scripts ready for production, revamping an old script and one of my most recent ones and thinking up ideas for more, and I'm on post-production on my first feature film.

What made you want to write in the first place?

I wanted to make movies and I became aware that movies first need a script in order to happen. My desire for filmmaking and for writing comes from wanting to tell stories from my own specific point of view. I want to see the stories that I feel are missing from the big and small screen at the moment.

What are your favourite films/tv series?

Films: Children of Men, There Will Be Blood, Casablanca, The 400 Blows, The Empire Strikes Back, Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Before Trilogy, Goodfellas, Princess Mononoke, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Rashomon, El Laberinto del Fauno.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

Watching movies, reading, listening to music, traveling, spending time with friends and family, exercising.

What sort of characters interest you?

Characters who go forward despite their greatest fears, who must atone for their past mistakes or who sacrifice for a greater cause or for others

Where’s your favourite place in the world?

London or Guanajuato or Rocky Point.

Where can we see your work?

You can check out my short films, short stories and some of my scripts on my website: inkfilmsinc.squarespace.com

What would you be doing if you weren’t a writer?

I'd be a musician or an actor.
